Hand-Held Spinner – Setup & Operator Guidance

This page provides a quick setup and operation guide for the KHD Hand-Held Spinner.
The hand-held spinner is designed for manual steam cleaning of conveyor belts and other
industrial surfaces using rotating steam jets.

The video below demonstrates how to correctly assemble and prepare the spinner before use.

Hand-Held Spinner Setup

Follow the video below to correctly assemble and connect the spinner before beginning
cleaning operations.

Operating Notes

  • Wear appropriate PPE including protective gloves and safety glasses.
  • Hold the spinner as close to the surface as possible without touching it.
Maintaining the correct distance is the most important factor for effective cleaning.
  • Move the spinner slowly across the surface to allow the rotating steam jets time to remove contamination.

Best Cleaning Technique

  • Hold the spinner as close to the surface as possible without touching it.
Cleaning performance drops significantly if the spinner is held too far away.
  • When cleaning modular belts, position the spinner over a section of belt that
is not directly supported by a solid bed. This allows the steam jets to force
debris through the belt and down to the floor.
  • Start cleaning at the highest point of the equipment and work your way
downwards. This prevents debris from falling onto areas that have already
    been cleaned.
  • Move the spinner slowly across the surface to allow the rotating steam jets time to break down
    and remove contamination.

General Maintenance

  • Keep the spinner clean using a hot damp cloth.
  • Do not wash the spinner with water or submerge it.
  • Avoid knocking or striking the spinner head. The internal steam swivel contains a
ceramic seal which can be damaged by impact.
  • Do not pull or move the steam generator by the hose or the hand-held spinner.
